Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup half & half or light cream
  • 2 tablespoons sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon instant coffee crystals
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 1 ounce whiskey
  • 1 tablespoon rum
  • 1/2 tablespoon chocolate syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, mix the half & half, sweetened condensed milk, and instant coffee crystals until the coffee dissolves.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg yolk and gradually add 4-5 ladles of the hot mixture, then return it to the pan and stir to combine.
  3. Bring the mixture to a high simmer and cook for 2 minutes, stirring constantly.
  4. Turn off the heat and add the whiskey, rum, chocolate syrup, and vanilla extract, then stir to combine.
  5. Allow the mixture to cool, then cover and chill in the refrigerator for at least 8 hours, or overnight.
  6. After chilling, pour the mixture through a sieve into another container to remove any egg particles.
  7. Transfer to bottles or a container with a lid and refrigerate. It can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 months.
