Ingredients

  • Salt for rim
  • 1 lime wedge
  • 1 1/2 ounces good quality blanco or reposado tequila
  • 1 ounce Cointreau or Grand Marnier
  • 1 oz. fresh lime juice (1-2 limes)
  • 1 oz. agave or simple syrup
  • Ice

Instructions

  1. Run the lime wedge around the rim of a rocks glass.
  2. Pour the salt into a small shallow dish and turn the glass upside down to coat the rim in salt.
  3. Add the tequila, Cointreau and/or Grand Mariner, lime juice, and ice to a shaker.
  4. Shake well to combine and chill the margarita. Shake in sweetener to taste.
  5. Pour into the prepared glass filled with more ice.
  6. Garnish with another wedge of lime.
