Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup half-and-half
  • 1/3 cup confectioners' sugar, sifted
  • 1/4 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 3 fl oz bourbon
  • 1 cup brewed coffee, preferably chicory coffee, cooled
  • Pinch of freshly grated nutmeg, plus more for serving

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the whole milk, half-and-half, sifted confectioners' sugar, vanilla extract, bourbon, cooled brewed coffee, and a pinch of nutmeg.
  2. Cover the bowl and place it in the freezer until the mixture becomes slushy, which takes about 3 hours.
  3. Stir the slushy mixture and serve it in chilled glass mugs or tall glasses, topped with a grating of nutmeg.
