Ingredients

  • 1 cup packed fresh basil leaves
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 ounces gin
  • 1/2 ounce peach liqueur
  • 1/4 ounce basil simple syrup
  • 3-5 fresh basil leaves
  • 2 peach slices (peeled)
  • 1 ounce peach nectar
  • 3-4 ounces club soda (preferably chilled)

Instructions

  1. To prepare the basil simple syrup, combine sugar and water in a saucepan and bring to a gentle boil.
  2. Add the fresh basil, and gently crush it to release its oils into the sugar mixture.
  3. Cook for 2 minutes, then remove from heat and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  4. Strain and transfer the syrup to an airtight container. It can be refrigerated for up to 1 month.
  5. For the gin fizz, muddle gin, peach liqueur, peach slices, basil, and basil simple syrup in a glass.
  6. Add ice, then pour in the peach nectar and club soda.
  7. Stir gently to combine, and garnish with basil and a peach slice.
