Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp Light Brown Sugar
  • 2 tbsp Unsalted Butter
  • 1/2 Cinnamon Stick
  • 1-2 Whole Cloves
  • 1-2 Allspice Berries
  • 1/8 Vanilla Bean (, split open vertically)
  • Pinch of Kosher Salt
  • 1 cup Water
  • 2 oz Dark Rum ((or 1 tsp Rum Extract))
  • Whipped Cream
  • Freshly grated Nutmeg

Instructions

  1. In a slow cooker, combine brown sugar, butter, cinnamon, cloves, allspice, vanilla bean, salt, and water.
  2. Cook on LOW for 5 1/2 hours.
  3. Strain the mixture through a fine sieve to remove spices and any butter solids; return liquid to the slow cooker to keep warm.
  4. To serve, pour rum (or rum extract) into a mug.
  5. Top with whipped cream and freshly grated nutmeg.
