Ingredients

  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 pinch of nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 ounces 100 proof bourbon
  • 1 tablespoon amaretto
  • 2 tablespoons heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tablespoons half and half

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, beat the egg yolk until it lightens in color.
  2. Gradually add the sugar, and mix until the batter thickens.
  3. Stir in the vanilla and nutmeg.
  4. Slowly pour in the bourbon and amaretto, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Transfer the mixture to a glass jar or container and refrigerate for at least 24 hours, but preferably 3 days to a week for the best flavor.
  6. Once chilled, fold in the whipped cream and half and half.
  7. Store the eggnog in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
  8. Garnish with a sprinkle of freshly grated nutmeg before serving.
