Ingredients

  • 1/2 tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 oz water
  • 5-6 fresh mint leaves
  • 3 oz Sauvignon Blanc, chilled
  • 1/8 cup fresh orange juice, chilled
  • 1/2 oz Triple Sec or other orange-flavored liqueur
  • 1/3 cup bite-size wedges of cantaloupe
  • 1/6 cup bite-size wedges of seedless watermelon

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine sugar, water, and torn mint. Heat over low heat until the sugar dissolves, then simmer for 1 minute. Let the mixture cool to room temperature for about 30 minutes.
  2. Strain the mint syrup through a fine-mesh sieve into a bowl and discard the mint leaves. Chill the syrup until ready to use.
  3. In a pitcher or large bowl, mix together the chilled wine, orange juice, Triple Sec, and mint simple syrup.
  4. Add the cantaloupe and watermelon to the mixture and chill for at least 30 minutes to 4 hours.
  5. When ready to serve, pour or ladle the cocktail over ice into a glass and garnish with a sprig of mint.
