Ingredients
- 1/2 tbsp sugar
- 1/2 oz water
- 5-6 fresh mint leaves
- 3 oz Sauvignon Blanc, chilled
- 1/8 cup fresh orange juice, chilled
- 1/2 oz Triple Sec or other orange-flavored liqueur
- 1/3 cup bite-size wedges of cantaloupe
- 1/6 cup bite-size wedges of seedless watermelon
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, combine sugar, water, and torn mint. Heat over low heat until the sugar dissolves, then simmer for 1 minute. Let the mixture cool to room temperature for about 30 minutes.
- Strain the mint syrup through a fine-mesh sieve into a bowl and discard the mint leaves. Chill the syrup until ready to use.
- In a pitcher or large bowl, mix together the chilled wine, orange juice, Triple Sec, and mint simple syrup.
- Add the cantaloupe and watermelon to the mixture and chill for at least 30 minutes to 4 hours.
- When ready to serve, pour or ladle the cocktail over ice into a glass and garnish with a sprig of mint.
